PLAYING OUT LOUD!
MY MUSIC
MY
MUSIC - WILL DOYLE (DOYLE & THE FOUR FATHERS)
First single?
Alien Ant Farm - "Smooth Criminal" (ouch.)
First
album?
Radiohead - "OK Computer" (Redeemed myself.)
Song
which makes me sad and why?
Probably "Broken Heart" by Spiritualized.
Any
song I've just got to turn off if it comes on the radio?
Used to be The Ting Tings' "Thats Not My Name" but now that
they have faded and hopefully never to return it doesn't get played a
lot. The trick is to listen to BBC 6 Music, there's virtually no need
to turn it off ever.
What
was the last album I bought?
I Am Kloot - "Sky At Night"
What
do I sing in the shower?
Whatever is in my head at the time. Nothing specific. Although bathroom
acoustics usually favour something a bit baritone in range.
What
was the last gig I went to?
Don't go to many nowadays unfortunately. Since I play a lot of them, it
becomes less enticing. I went to a Bandstand Busking event in the Southbank
Center for Richard Thompson's Meltdown Festival a few weeks ago, that
was nice. Highlights included a brass band playing an arrangement of Bohemian
Rhapsody and John Smith, a very talented singer/songwriter with some interesting
tapping methods.
Favourite
Beatles song?
Does anyone comment on how difficult of a question this is? I am going
to say "I Am The Walrus" due to exceptionally obscure lyrics
and incredible and innovative production (the "fake stereo"
in the second half of the song). Ask me on a different day though and
I will say a different song.
What
would I like to be played at my funeral?
Probably something by Scott Walker. I wouldn't want anything too cliche,
but just to have something played that has had a particular musical impact
on my life would be very fitting.
